Just gonna try the re-boot button, loves

In a thoroughly anti-climatic turn of events, South African Airways has canceled our flight, offloaded us along with the throng of agitated co-travelers and deposited us in a completely unglamorous airport hotel.

It all began, more than 5 hours ago, with what seemed like a small issue. From the first few minutes after boarding, the Captain began chattering about a "glitch" in the computer systems that they would have fixed in a "jiffy." But, after repeated attempts at powering down and powering up the plane, running a single engine at idle, rebooting the entire system and - I'm fairly certain - sacrificing a small chicken, that small issue caused a fully loaded plane to sit at the gate for more than three hours. Worse still, clearly, they didn't fix it and hence the canceled flight.

So with that, we've officially declared a false start. We're hoping for an 8:30am departure tomorrow morning and some better material to share, but until then, all our best from ... New York...
